
MICHAEL RUNESU SHAMU PERSONAL PROFILE
Michael Runesu Shamu is joining SKC Solutions as the Director of Engineering with the mandate to provide cutting edge solutions to all Engineering and training problems in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical. Agricultural, Electronic & Communication, Mining, Renewable energy and Civil engineering. He also will be responsible for all related projects from inception to commissioning stage. He joins SKC Solutions with a wealth of both hands on and managerial experience from automotive, mechanical, production, electrical & electronic, civil and mining engineering as well as higher learning institutions, competencies necessary for this level of responsibility.
Michael is a time served Diesel Mechanic and a qualified Engineer with over 25 years of working
experience. In addition to the Skilled Craft certificates (1994), he is also a holder of B. Engineering in Mechatronics Engineering [Chinhoyi University of Technology, Zimbabwe (2009)]; Master of Engineering in Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Management [National University of Science & Technology, Zimbabwe (2020)] and a Post Graduate Diploma in Higher and Tertiary Education, [Great Zimbabwe University (2021)].
His area of interest is the application of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Maintenance Management Systems in providing lasting solutions to engineering problems. He also has a keen interest in design and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in all facets of engineering, notably lean production systems. At the moment, Mike, as he is affectionately known, is pursuing doctoral studies (PhD) in the application of Fuzzy Logic (AI) in Hydraulics and Driver Dynamics in Heavy Equipment Machinery (for Mining, Construction and Agriculture) at IPRC Kigali, Rwanda where he is currently stationed as a lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering department. Due to his vast experience and qualifications, he is renowned for the accreditation of the new Bachelor of Technology Degree in Automotive Engineering.
Mr Shamu is married to Margret, an Administrative Assistant in the Vice Chancellor’s Office at Great Zimbabwe University and have two children, Kudakwashe and Tapiwanashe. He is a devout Christian, a Seventh day Adventist by denomination. He has been elected elder for three consecutive years, has been a deacon for several years and held the position of treasurer for two years among other duties.
